Data Privacy Policy

FieroWiki respects your privacy and strives to collect as little personal data as possible.
This page explains what information may be collected, how it is used, and your choices regarding that data.

1. General Principles

FieroWiki is a nonprofit, community-driven preservation project. FieroWiki does not sell, trade, or otherwise share personal data for profit or marketing purposes. Any data processing that occurs is solely to ensure the site’s functionality and security. FieroWiki aims to remain advertisement-free, funded entirely by the site owner's love for Fieros.

FieroWiki does not use any cookies for advertising, tracking, or marketing.

2. Information FieroWiki Collects

FieroWiki is a static, read-only website. It has no accounts, comments, forms, or analytics, and FieroWiki itself does not collect any personal information.

  • Visitor metadata: The services that host and deliver the site (see below) may automatically log technical data such as browser type, IP address, and visit timestamps, as described in their own privacy policies. FieroWiki does not receive, share, or sell this data.

3. Third-Party Services

FieroWiki may interact with the following external services:

  • GitHub — for website hosting (GitHub Pages), version control, and content backup.
See GitHub’s Privacy Statement for more information.

  • Cloudflare — for DNS and file download links.
See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for more information.

  • External links — Some pages may include links to outside sites such as the Internet Archive or other resources.
FieroWiki is not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. FieroWiki strives to provide tracker-free links, but cannot guarantee as it could conflict with the obligation to cite original sources.

4. Data Retention

  • User contributions (e.g., corrections or files submitted through GitHub) are kept as part of the permanent historical record unless removed for legal or content reasons. This data is never sold for any reason.

  • Backup copies that persist in GitHub repositories or physical archives as part of long-term preservation efforts may contain data that has been requested to be removed. While FieroWiki cannot guarantee removal from every backup source, such data is never shared or sold for any reason.

5. Data Requests or Removal

If you believe your personal data appears on FieroWiki and wish for it to be corrected or removed, please get in contact via the Contact page.
Requests will be reviewed promptly and in good faith.

6. Security Measures

FieroWiki is served exclusively over HTTPS.
However, no system is completely secure. By using this site, you acknowledge that data transmission over the Internet carries inherent risks.

7. Compliance and Jurisdiction

FieroWiki is based in the United States and operates in accordance with U.S. data privacy principles.
This site is not specifically designed to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
However, the spirit of those frameworks (respect for user data and minimal collection) is observed voluntarily.

If you are located outside the United States, please note that your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

8. Changes to This Policy

FieroWiki may update or revise this policy at any time. The most recent version will always be available on this page, and its full edit history is available in the FieroWiki GitHub repository.

Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of any changes.
